AFF course - your first step into the world of skydiving
Skydiving has always been exciting – it combines adrenaline, freedom and an extraordinary sense of control over your own body. To start this adventure safely and in accordance with the highest standards, the best choice is the AFF course (Accelerated Free Fall).
It is a modern, accelerated training method used worldwide, which enables quick and effective mastery of the basics of skydiving. Thanks to intensive theoretical training, practical exercises on the ground and individually tailored jumps with an instructor, the student quickly acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to perform independent jumps.
How does the AFF course proceed?
The training consists of three stages: theory, ground exercises and practical jumps. Each of these is essential for the student to build a solid foundation and gradually become more independent in the air.
Theory training
At this stage, the student acquires the knowledge that forms the basis for safe jumping. Topics covered include:
- safety rules applicable during jumps,
- construction and functioning of the parachute,
- fundamentals of aviation law in Poland,
- meteorological elements important for jumpers,
- emergency procedures and ways of dealing with exceptional situations.
Theoretical classes are held in small groups of 3-4 people, which allows the instructor to devote maximum attention to each participant. Meetings are usually held on Fridays at the airport in Piotrkow Trybunalski.
Ground exercises
After completing the theoretical part, practical classes on the ground follow. The aim of this stage is to develop correct habits and prepare the student for real jumps.
During ground exercises, participants learn:
- maintaining the correct posture during free fall,
- correct opening of the parachute,
- behavior in emergency situations.
Regular repetition of these elements ensures that during the first jump, all actions are already natural and performed with confidence.
IMPORTANT INFO! Training in a wind tunnel
Want to experience free fall before your first jump?
A wind tunnel is the perfect place to check out how your body behaves in the air without any stress, in fully controlled conditions.
Thanks to exercises in the tunnel, you can:
- quickly develop the right figure,
- repeat maneuvers multiple times without waiting for the aircraft,
- gain confidence and significantly accelerate learning.
We regularly organize trips to the tunnel, which are a great complement to the AFF course. It is an excellent option both for those who are just starting their adventure with skydiving and for those who want to improve their skills.
Practical training - jumps from a height of 4,200 m
The most important and exciting stage is practical jumping. This is when the student applies the knowledge and skills they have acquired earlier in real-life conditions.
On average, participants make around seven jumps during the course, but the number is adjusted individually to suit each participant’s progress. Instructors assess readiness for subsequent stages on an ongoing basis and, if necessary, may recommend additional jumps.
The training course is structured as follows:
- the first jumps are accompanied by two instructors who accompany the student from the moment they leave the plane until the parachute opens,
- subsequent jumps are carried out under the supervision of one instructor, which allows for a gradual increase in independence,
- after opening the parachute, the student remains in radio contact with the instructor until a safe landing.
Each jump is recorded on video and then discussed in detail, allowing for error analysis and progress monitoring.
What's next after the AFF course?
After completing the course, you become a student jumper. This means that you can now perform subsequent jumps on your own, but of course under the watchful eye of an instructor who is waiting for you on the ground. They will check your equipment, advise you and help you whenever you need it.
Once you have completed 50 jumps, you can take the state exam for the PJ(B) Certificate of Qualification, issued by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Once you have obtained it, you become a fully independent skydiver with an official license, and then… the whole world of skydiving is open to you!
You can jump in groups, develop your skills in various disciplines (e.g., formation skydiving, freefly or wingsuit) and fulfill your dreams.
Important information before the course starts
- Third-party liability insurance – required, cost approx. PLN 270/year (we can help you purchase it online).
- Maximum weight of the student: 110 kg.
- Medical examinations – these are not mandatory, but remember to inform the instructor about any past illnesses or injuries.
- Age – 16 years and older (minors require the consent of both parents).
The AFF course is the best way to start your adventure with skydiving – quickly, safely and in a great atmosphere. It’s not just training, but also an adventure that will stay with you for a lifetime.
If you want to feel true freedom, see the world from a height of several kilometers and learn the art of freefall – this is your first step!
